Dublin Tech Summit 2017

Zahra Media Group was delighted to attend the 2017 Dublin Tech Summit which took place in The Convention Centre Dublin earlier this week. Showcasing everything Dublin has to offer as a global technology hub, the summit hosted talks from over 200 speakers and global investors proving that technology is for everyone, not just uber-techies.

Numerous talks on so many relevant and interesting topics took place across eight stages over the two days. We have managed to select our top five nuggets of wisdom however, so take a look below…

1. Content needs to be powerful and impactful

As Pixar’s Matthew Luhn explained brilliantly in his talk, The Art Of Storytelling; content always needs to be powerful and impactful. Memorable and impactful content makes people feel something which in turn allows them to become personally attached to the storyteller (your brand or product).

2. Curate content with an underlying message that your brand wants to represent

Conor McGann made this excellent point in a panel discussion on the topic of using video to increase brand authority. It’s important to have a clear vision of the message your brand wants to convey and to represent that through all content you generate.

3. Surround yourself with bright people

Michael Hurnaus, CEO of Tractive, the company behind the innovative GPS tracker for pets, mentioned that surrounding himself with bright people helped in getting him to where he is today. We’re taking a leaf out of his book.

4. Turn data into action

Data has become increasingly accessible over the past number of years but how useful is data without the knowledge of what to do with it? Marc Preusche of LeRoi took to the Business & Marketing stage to urge digital marketers to turn data into action. By using a step-by-step approach, we can all start to take knowledge from data.

5. Mobile friendliness is key

Improving Engagement In Today’s Social World saw Google Global Audience Development Specialist, Chris Jones urge content creators to give people what they want by ensuring content is mobile friendly. He went on to stress that it’s all about making online experiences easy and engaging for users. People have a short attention span so generating snackable content is crucial as everything needs to be quick and easy.
