You may have been introduced to the newest member of our Food Team, Moira Jean Davies, through her recent post on the blog (which you can read here if you haven’t already). She’s heading up the new Food Service Division of Zahra Media Group, and we had a little chat with her to find out what exactly this new division has to offer to our clients. 

Moira would be the perfect addition to any food service team – with over fifteen years experience in vastly different sectors of the industry, across two hemispheres and as many continents, no one could disagree that she’s a bonafide expert. “Food is my passion and I have a very inquiring mind,” she laughs.

From her initial training as a chef in the Hotel School in South Africa, to product development of Fast Moving Consumer Goods for brands like Unilever, work with brand development chefs and food technologists, and training sales and marketing teams in sensory evaluation, Moira has made it her mission to conquer all aspects of food service.

“Technologists have a very scientific mind, whereas chefs are very creative… I like to bring both together,” Moira says. “Taking products, looking at the brand, seeing how it fits and who we’re trying to target – basically, how can we become solution-based?”

That’s exactly what Moira plans to deliver with the new Food Service Division of Zahra Media Group. Expanding on the expert recipe creation we have grown through Easy Food magazine, and the forward thinking video and photography we offer through Recipe Lab, Moira and the team at ZMG can now offer:

  • Online Consumer Panels & Research – from a huge database of consumers with which we can test concepts, end user application, packaging design and purchasing patterns;
  • Brand Activation – from Culinary Consulting to Interactive Cooking Workshops, Training Materials and the creation of content for the sales team to Channel Specific Strategies on Social Media, Promotion Design and P.O.S. Creation.
  • Product Development & Testing – including development for ready made meal factories, Innovation Proposals for Category Specific Products, Competitor Benchmarking and Training Material.
  • Sensory Evaluation – Triangle Testing, Duo Testing and Preference or Sequence Testing.

Moira can’t contain her excitement about the new division – “We’re offering a 360° solution, helping businesses in every way we can,” she says enthusiastically. “When people look at something you want them to say, ‘wow, I want that product’. It’s really important for me to give back to the industry here in Ireland and to make a difference. There’s so much experience I can bring to ZMG an their clients.”
