Dublin Design Night 2018

Dublin Design Night

Yume Sato is a designer here at Zahra Media Group and frequently attends cool events, where she reports back to us on what she’s learned.

Dublin Design Night is a free annual event with several graphic design workshops, talks and exhibitions happening in different locations in town. It’s a great way to meet other creatives, get inspiration from new artists and hear about their process, and still manage to get freebies, free food and lovely drinks! I got together with a couple of designer friends and went exploring what the event had to offer.

Here are some highlights from the night’s events:

1- Screen-printing-at-Scout

SCOUT, in Essex Street West

We got to screen-print a nice cute poster that will now be part of the inspirational wall we’re doing in the Creative Services room. As a designer who does 99% of the work in a computer, it’s always so nice to have the chance to get your hands dirty doing something creative!

 2- At-it-Again-illustrations

Jam Art Factory, 14 Crown Alley

This was a talk about illustration with Maite López and Niall Laverty, the very talented couple behind “At it Again!”. I love hearing about other illustrator’s inspiration and processes, so this talk was especially enjoyable.

 3- Industry&Co-fun-party

Industry & CO, Drury Street

It felt like a nice party there, where we got lovely free gin & tonics and food. There were loads of creatives showing their work and exhibitions going around too!

 4- BlackChurch-workshop

Black Church Print Studio, 4 Temple Bar

This was my favourite workshop of the night. They gave us a tour around a tower-looking building where loads of different types of print are done, and we were able to see a lithographic poster being printed.

Let us know if you have any design needs as we have a full Creative Services team ready and waiting!
