From nappy creams and pushchairs to baby food and bath time accessories, the very best expert and parent-rated baby products were recognised at the National Parenting Product Awards (NPPAs) 2015 in Dublin’s Westbury Hotel on Wednesday, 23rd September.
Finalists were invited to a special lunch to discover how their product/s performed, where top Irish model and mum-of-one Alison Canavan presented the awards to the shortlisted entries.
The National Parenting Product Awards were set up in 2014 by Ireland’s No. 1 parenting publishers Zahra Media Group (publishers of Easy Parenting, the Ultimate Maternity Guide and www.mumsonline.ie), who teamed up with research company Millward Brown to develop the awards – the objective being to independently and rigorously test products in the parenting category, amongst consumers and experts.
Companies who distribute baby products all over Ireland submitted 164 products for testing by consumers and experts, the results of which will be included in the National Parenting Product Guide 2015 (NPPG 2015), which will be distributed in The Irish Mail on Sunday on the 1st of November.
Some of the winners included KoolioBandz, which won gold in the Best Travel Product category, and tied first place with Maxi-Cosi AxissFix in the Innovative Product category, while the Maxi-Cosi 2WayFamily scooped gold for Best Car Seat. Freddy Fyffes Bananas was awarded gold for Preferred Baby/Toddler Snacks and Aldi Mamia Newborn Nappies (Size 1) got the gold accolade in Best Disposable Nappies. “Congratulations to all of the NPPA 2015 finalists. Choosing baby products for parents can be very confusing, particularly considering the vast array of product choices and conflicting advice available. Until we launched the NPPAs, there was no consolidated source of information for parents and parents-to-be in Ireland trying to select the right products for their babies,” said Gina Miltiadou, Managing Director of Zahra Media Group. “We are confident that the NPPG 2015 will become a constant companion for parents as they make purchasing decisions for themselves and for their baby.”
Background to the NPPA research
Millward Brown were commissioned to undertake research on behalf of Zahra Media for the National Parenting Products Awards. A quantitative hall test was conducted among 500+ parents who each trialled a set number of products across a scheduled set of categories. Order of testing was rotated and strictly controlled. All interviews were self completion. 164 products were tested in 41 categories.
Testing sessions were conducted in Dublin, Galway and Cork in locations that were specifically selected to be spacious, well lit and permitted access to test specific products outside. Each day of testing had a schedule of categories to test in three-hour slots.
